Pokémon Unbound Battle Frontier
The Battle Frontier is Unbound’s post-game battle park — four hard battle challenges, a new currency called Battle Points, and the road to the Gold Prints you need for the Black Trainer Card. Here’s how it all works.

What the Battle Frontier is and where to find it
The Battle Frontier is an end-game area full of extra-hard battle challenges and rare prizes. It stays locked until you beat the Elite Four and become Pokémon Champion — there is no way in earlier.
When you try to enter after becoming Champion, the receptionist walks up and hands you a Frontier Card. This card records everything you do at the Frontier, and you need it to take part in any challenge. An Ace Trainer in the gate area will also challenge you to a battle right away, so don’t walk in with a weak team.

🗺️ Getting there
The Frontier’s south exit leads back to Seaport City. Inside you’ll find the four challenge buildings, a stall area with daily games, and shops that take Battle Points.

The four facilities
The Frontier has four battle facilities, each with its own rule set: the Battle Tower, the Battle Circus, the Battle Sands, and the Battle Mine. You earn Battle Points in all of them by beating as many trainers in a row as you can — and if your streak goes far enough, you get to face that area’s Frontier Brain.
Facility 1Battle Tower
The classic gauntlet: straight battles, one after another, with no gimmicks beyond your own team. The Tower also has a library with information about the Frontier, so stop there first if you want to read up before you fight.

Facility 2Battle Circus
The Circus runs its battles under its own special rules. It’s also home to the Ability Change Clown, who can change your Pokémon’s ability — including hidden abilities — for Battle Points.
Facility 3Battle Sands
The Sands has its own rule set like the others. One thing to know: it’s the only facility where you check your record by talking to the organizer instead of using a data computer.
Facility 4Battle Mine
The fourth challenge building, again with its own rules. Conquer all four facilities and you take home rare items — and get closer to the Black Trainer Card.
📊 Tracking your streaks
You can check your win records on the data computers at the Frontier. The only exception is the Battle Sands, where you speak with the organizer to see your record.
Gold Prints and win streaks explained
Each facility awards a Gold Print when you reach a 50-win streak there. Collect the Gold Print from every facility and you earn the Battle Frontier star on your trainer card.
That star is one of five needed for the Black Trainer Card. The full list: become Champion, finish every mission, complete the National Pokédex, hit a 100-win streak at the Antisis City Ring Challenge, and get all Gold Prints at the Battle Frontier. Of the five, the Frontier star usually takes the longest — 50 straight wins in four different rule sets is a serious test.
Earning the Black Trainer Card isn’t just for show, either. It lets you upgrade your Stat Scanner to the maximum level at Professor Log’s lab, which lets you change almost any stat on any Pokémon — ability, nature, EVs, IVs, and more.
How to prepare
The Frontier is built for strong teams. Before you start chasing streaks, get these basics in order:
- Train a full team to high levels. Streaks end the moment you lose once, so every Pokémon on your team needs to pull its weight. Cover as many types as you can.
- Give everyone a useful held item. Leftovers, Choice items, Focus Sash — whatever fits each Pokémon’s job. Item choice wins close battles.
- Pack status and recovery moves. Long streaks mean long sessions. Paralysis, sleep, and healing keep you alive when luck turns against you.
- Have a plan for each facility’s rules. Since every building plays differently, don’t bring the same six Pokémon everywhere — adjust your team to the rule set.
Spending your Battle Points
Winning battles earns you Battle Points (BP), the Frontier’s currency. You can also pick up extra BP from the daily games in the stall area — guessing the lucky number and the NPC battle challenge. Here’s what your BP buys:
| Service | What it does | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Nature Changer | Changes a Pokémon’s nature | 50 BP |
| EV Maximizer | Maxes out a stat’s EVs | 50 BP |
| Ability Changer Clown | Changes ability, including hidden abilities | 100 BP (regular) |
| Hidden Power Changer | Changes Hidden Power type | 15 BP |
| Egg Move Trainer | Teaches egg moves | 15 BP |
| Move Tutors | Teach moves like Fire Punch, Foul Play, Snore | 4–12 BP |
| Draco Meteor Tutor | Teaches Draco Meteor to a Dragon-type with max friendship | Free |
| Evolution items | Dubious Disc, Protector, Reaper Cloth, Up-Grade and more | 32 BP each |
| Razor Claw / Razor Fang | Held evolution items | 48 BP each |
| Vitamins & items | HP Up, Heart Scale, TMs and more | 2–16 BP |
Spend your first BP on the things that make your team stronger — nature changes and EV training pay off in every streak you attempt.
